Carrigaholt - Co. Clare

Level: Intermediate - Advanced

Shoreline: The beach at Carrigaholt faces a south-easterly direction onto the Shannon. Recommended to launch about two hours either side of low tide as this will offer a larger area to launch and land. In addition, there can be rocks along the shoreline so it is recommended to get into deeper water and avoid the shoreline

Wind: Wind is cleanest from a south-easterly direction but the beach also works for easterly to south westerly winds

Water: Water surface conditions are generally flat but can get choppy during high winds.

Launch: Can only be done around low tide due to restricted space.

Parking: Free parking is available along the beach

Amenities: Pubs and food are available in Carrigaholt village

Tips: Give the shore anglers plenty of space

Directions: Take the R486 from Kilkee. When you get to Breaghva, take the R488 to Carrigaholt.
