Doughmore Strand - Doonbeg - Co. Clare

Level: Intermediate - Advanced

Shoreline: The shoreline is a crescent shape of approx 4km long and faces a west/north-west direction

Wind: Wind conditions work well when blowing anywhere from a westerly round to a northerly direction

Water: Water surface conditions can vary considerably depending on swell and it is usually not safe to use in Winter.

Launch: There is usually plenty of locations to launch on the beach other that at high tide

Parking: Parking is available in the public car park provided for users of the beach.

Tips: Doonbeg is not suitable for swimming due to very strong current. It catches some of the heaviest swell on the west coast and it is recommended to not kite on this beach alone. Use the surfers path when accessing the beach via the golf course.

Directions: Take the N67 Lahinch towards Kilkee and watch out for the sighs for Doonbeg Golf Course
